Professor Kingston-Mann is a scholar, writer and teacher of Russian/Soviet history, and has also published books and articles about teaching diverse students. She was born in Detroit, and was the first in her family to attend college.
She received her undergraduate education at University of Michigan and Antioch College, and her Ph.D at Johns Hopkins University.
