EDCG 671 Practice in Tutoring, Writing, and Reading Across the CurriculumUniversity of Massachusetts This course features direct tutoring experience in the UMass Boston
Reading, Writing, and Study Strategies Center and a seminar in which
students discuss a range of topics brought up by tutoring and their
applicability to teaching. It consists of 3 hours per week of monitored
tutoring of UMass Boston undergraduate students, individually, and teaching
in small groups, as well as participation in a weekly seminar. Seminar
topics address critical reading, writing about texts and literature,
thinking about assessment, and other central issues of teaching reading
and writing across the curriculum. Selected readings from literature
