PURPOSE
The purpose of the course is to develop
understanding of the
process or program development.
Students will develop their skills at identifying areas for
development,
weigh the costs and benefits of development, and expanding their
ability to
choose among alternative strategies for developing programs.
REQUIREMENTS
Readings. Students are expected to have read the assigned readings for a topic prior to the week in which the topic is discussed, with the exception of the first week.
Assignments. There are four assignments: 1) a description of a program used for a case example, including possible areas of development, and procedures on how one may approach decision makers in the organization regarding development; 2) a plan for a needs assessment with a statement of how development based on the assessment will further the goals of the program; 3) a plan for a program development activity, indicating the target audience, content of the activity, and desired results; 4) a plan for evaluating the results of the development activity and a statement of how the information resulting from the evaluation will be used by the program and the person doing the development.
Plagiarism.
Plagiarism is forbidden. Credit
must be given for the work of others.
Work by others that is quoted or paraphrased must be cited. All cited works must have a complete
reference, including electronic documents.
Using electronic recording devices is not allowed without the
permission
of the instructor.
