Writing Groups for Support and Feedback
A small group—three people is a good number—finds a regular time each week that
every member can protect from
all other distractions. You commit to taking turns using the meeting to receive feedback on and discuss the latest installment of your writing. The installment should be precirculated at least 2 days before the meeting along with a note about the kind of feedback desired (see
Responses and Elbow and Belanoff 2000). The groups are, of course, free to establish additional forms of support beyond giving feedback on writing.
