The entire situation can go one of two ways. The company shoul prepare for both situations...unless.. they have a way of determining the outsome... which as far as I know they don't. So I split my research topics accordingly:

A) Ellie Foster has her own child:

1) Legality of non-disclosure.
K: I know there are non-disclosure laws that allow for genetic testing of newborns without the consent of the parents. The parents are simply informed if there are problems. This case seems similar.
A: With this knowledge corporations can do many experimental tests on humans; compensating only the errors. Similar actions have been taken in regards to environmental and labor issues, in which the fines are incorporated into the cost of the benefit.
Q: Biotech and Corporate Law. Similarities, differences and applications.
F: The best way to find this information is through case studies.

2) Prevention and Improvement
K: We know the precautions taken to prevent this in the first place. (labeling, repeat tests, etc)
A: In case this case had been revealed to the public, steps must be taken for future prevention. Also, marketing and organizational strategies need to be created to gain back the public trust in case of future malpractice.
Q: Insurance toward biotech schemes
F: Research of Insurance infrastructure and possibilities. Also, research into corporate marketing for redemption.

3) Male contribution
K: The role of the male in evolutionary terms, and as a current social figure in regards to child support.
A: Gender studies, therapy and child support/abortion law.
Q: Application of child support law in cases where males did not participate in IVF process. Role of male in biotechnological society. How this may apply to women in a similar role, where they donate their egg, but don’t have any further biological responsibility of bringing the child up.
F: Male psychological responsibility trends.

B) Ellie Foster has Devon Remus’ child:

1) Abortion of undesired scientific results
K: Current reasons for abortion
A: New social trends in abortion. Increased abortions leading to increased controversy over legitimacy of “scientific children.”
Q: Corporate responsibility concerning abortion. Interstate abortion rights. Philosophical questions concerning definitions of “life”
F: Transhumanism philosophy, abortion polls.

2) Nature versus Nurture; DNA versus womb
K: Biological hypotheses about affect on the baby through actions taken by mother during pregnancy.
A: Healthier pregnancies due to substantial research into surrogate mothers; especially concerning random pregnancy. Future of surrogate mother as profession.
Q: Therapeutic needs of surrogate mothers.
F: Current surrogate mothers and careful experimentation and analysis of this scenario.

3) Compensation
K: Current malpractice losses
A: Insurance corporations can adjust data accordingly
Q: Value of IVF children
F: Biotech and Medical malpractice lawsuits. Lawsuit resulting from current scenario.

4) Decision-Making Process between families
K: Political and social role of families in society
A: Future communal family responsibility. Social and ethical possibilities. Insight on how to advise this situation, and what contracts may be needed.
Q: Dysfunction and changing attitudes of family unit.
F: Sociological research into trends of current families.
