About The Souls Icon:
The image conveys the concept of the threefold soul a Jew is said to possess.
Every living thing is endowed with a "breath of bones", or lifeforce
(here the smallest circle). Intelligent beings have a soul called the
nefesh, which more or less represents their personality in life (here
the middle circle, larger and of greater importance). The neshama (here
the largest circle), which is the eternal and holy soul bestowed on a
person from heaven, is very special. It is sometimes said only Jews have
a neshama, and even among them it must be earned or bestowed through piousness
and study of the Torah.
